Protecting Our Nation Is Our Responsibility

Editor, News-Register:

Open letter to our public officials:

We the people voted and elected a new president, along with representatives to the House and Senate. These men and woman were elected to go to Washington and follow up on the wishes of the American public who voted for them.

If a stranger knocks on your door and demands to come in, live with you and your family, eat your food, sleep in your bed, get a free education, go to the doctor and hand you the bill, would you and should you be OK with that?

Let us never forget 9/11. The Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the brave Americans at Shanksville who lost their lives.

Make the Chuck Schumers and Nancy Pelosis of government watch the footage of the attack on America over and over again.  Have the protesters read the names of the lives lost on that fateful day. Have the protesters look in the eyes of the families of lost loved ones and tell them their lives did not matter.

The vetting of people wanting to enter our country is not our right as Americans, it’s our responsibility.

President Bill Clinton spoke to a joint session of Congress and demanded the same thing our new president is demanding, to protect the American public against terrorism.  President Clinton received a standing ovation.  So I ask you, what the hell is the difference?
