There’s No Substitute For Winning the Game

Kim North’s article in the sports section about Buckeye North appointing Roger Herbert (an interesting name, to be sure) head football coach contained a comment of Mr. Herbert’s about Mark Cisar, one of his predecessors, which caught my attention: The one thing that I learned from Mark … is football has to be fund whether you’re winning or not.”
In this case, the apple seems to have fallen a long way from the tree. I doubt if the Dave Cisar whom we know and love here in New Martinsville shares this sentiment. Who was it who said, “There’s no substitute for winning”?
