Look at Space’s Record

Editor, News-Register:

“The further back you can look, the further forward you can see.” –Winston Churchill.

I am writing this letter in response to the recent political activity of the former Congressman Zack Space in the Ohio Valley. Considering the glowing description of his campaign platform and the former congressman’s accolades his supporters seem to have forgotten a few facts about Mr. Space’s past political history. Correct me if I’m wrong but:

Point One: When he was elected to Congress he went to Washington promising to represent the people in South East Ohio. Instead, he sided with Nancy Pelosi about 90 percent of the time.

Point Two: He voted for the “Cap and Trade Bill” which would have destroyed our regions energy industry as well as increasing the cost of energy nationwide.

Point Three: He never once opposed President Obama’s destructive actions in his “War on Coal.”

Point Four: He donated to and supported Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election. Question: Why would you vote for a candidate who promised to: “close down a lot of coal mines and put a lot of coal miners out of work.”? When you claim to be looking out for the people that make their living in that industry?

Point Five: After former Congressman Space was voted out of office, he became a lobbyist, diving into the Columbus Swamp this time.

Point Six: Since President Trump was elected, we are getting the kind of reform that may very well save what is left the Ohio Valleys coal industry and perhaps bring back the steel industry that had sustained the valley for generation.

In closing, judging from Mr. Space’s history, I fail to see why anyone would believe that he has the Ohio Valley or the state of Ohio’s interest in mind if he were elected.
