Potter Should Apologize

Editor, News-Register:

I was appalled to read that the WV GOP Chairwoman, Melody Potter, applauded a fellow Republican state senator’s call for intolerance against members of the LGBTQ community. I expect more of all West Virginians than this, and especially of someone in a position of authority.

Does she think that LGBTQ West Virginians aren’t equal citizens? Is her religion so narrow and so prejudiced? Or is she just ignoring the basic tenets of her religion and putting her fear of differences ahead of the love and respect that Jesus preached?

She needs to apologize to all West Virginians for her comments. If she can’t hold every West Virginian in respect, she should step down from her position as State Chair of West Virginia’s Republican Party.
