Dirty Words

September 17, 2007 - Heather Ziegler
The first time I uttered the word prick I had no idea the word would result in such a reaction from the older woman who was in the room at the time. The truth of the matter is I did not know that the word had a dirty meaning. But that woman let me know loud and clear. I stay away from that word now. I really thought the word just meant you were mean. Anyway, it's not the end of the world word. I understand the governor used that word in reference to a local radio talk show host. Maybe it was the wrong choice of words for a governor, but it could have been worse. Let me tell you that there is no such thing as public decorum anymore. I'm convinced. If I had a dime for everytime I heard the F-word in a day, I could have retired years ago. We have lost something when we don't respect ourselves enough to know that gutter talk should stay in the gutter. I've heard kids on school buses use it; mothers use it toward their children; and men and women just all out scream it at one another. I'm sick of it.
