A Shot in the Dark

October 19, 2010 - Joselyn King
Prior to his address at the Northern Panhandle Regional Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Saturday, I spoke with Gov. Joe Manchin about his campaign ad in which he shoots his hunting rifle at a copy of the "cap and trade" legislation.

He told me that before the ad was released, he contacted the White House to tell the Obama Administration it was coming, and that it was not meant in any way to communicate any threat to the president.

I like the ad. But I admit it does concern me when -- in this day of such nasty, mean-spirited and combative political commercials -- a real gun makes an appearance.

Lets hope candidates leave the guns home when they come to debates.

Anybody recall the Aaron Burr-Alexander Hamilton feud from history class? That ended well. Not.
