Do you have an inspiring story to share?

December 21, 2010 - Betsy Bethel
It's Christmas week, and I have heard little more than complaints and bad news. Last week, a Wheeling family's house burned down. This week, a local man working on a vehicle at the side of a roadway was critically injured by a motorist. At least one official from a local toy and food distribution effort says it was obvious there were more "working poor" recipients than ever this year. Drivers and shoppers are short-tempered and rude. My friends and co-workers are sick with colds and laryngitis.

I've never lacked Christmas spirit. But this year, I've certainly had to make a conscious effort to keep hope and joy alive in my heart. I don't think I'm alone. I have focused on others; I have reminded myself of the "reason for the season"; I have watched all my favorite movies and listened to Christmas music pretty much every waking minute.

Now I'm asking for your help.

Do you have an inspiring story to share? It could be anything that warms the heart and inspires people to pause a moment, count their blessings and reach out in kindness and selflessness to others. Please leave your comments below. If you haven't signed up to make comments, it only takes a minute. You can even sign up using your Facebook account. I hope you make the effort. You never know how your story might affect someone personally.

And I hope you all, no matter what your circumstances, find a way to have a merry Christmas.
