Looks like Christmas

January 24, 2011 - Heather Ziegler
Still looks like Christmas in downtown Wheeling in January. The Christmas lights were a nice touch being on while Wheeling had all those wrestlers and their fans in town over the weekend. I realize the lights must be on timers or something, but enough's enough. Also as I was out and about of late, I noticed a few chairs placed along some streets where residents are saving their parking spaces in front of their homes. I know it's not permitted by man's law, but by golly, I understand why people save their spaces. I lived on a street where parking was at a premium and when it snowed a lot we dug out our space and used a lawn chair to mark our territory. That was a long time ago but even today, people who live near businesses or churches or schools have to put up with people parking in front of their homes even when there are plenty of PARKING LOTS around these entities. Common sense should dictate but sometimes it doesn't. Instead of going after such scofflaws, why can't we enforce the laws regarding sidewalks that aren't shoveled or kept free of ice where the public has to walk?
