| | Where are the 3s?March 4, 2011 - Jim ElliottIt's unthinkable what West Liberty's top 3-point shooters -- Laura Malernee, Barry Shetzer, and Jordan Fortney -- experienced through each of their first games at the Charleston Civic Center. Combined, they were 0-for-19 from beyond the 3-point line. Based on their season, and career statistics, it's almost improbable. Malernee is women's basketball's all-time 3-point leader who was averaging 3.9 treys per game. Fortney is second in the nation on the men's side at 4.1 per game and first in 3-point field goal percentage at 43.6 percent. Shetzer is third in the country at 3.9 3-pointers made per game. These are players who make 3s in their sleep. Don't look for these trends to continue as the WLU men take on W.Va. Wesleyan tonight in the WVC Tournament's semifinals.
