WLU Leads by One at Half; 3-Point troubles persist

March 4, 2011 - Jim Elliott
Corey Pelle and Barry Shetzer each scored 10 points in the first half as West Liberty hangs on to a 36-35 lead on W.Va. Wesleyan in a WVC Tourney semifinal. The game has been close throughout, with the Hilltoppers' largest lead at eight 4 1/2 minutes into the game. The Bobcats took their largest lead -- three -- at the 6:47 mark. Other than that, the score has been tied six times and the lead has changed three times. The real story for the Hilltoppers is the 3-point shooting. They're just 2 of 14 from beyond the arc, those both belonging to Barry Shetzer in the early minutes of the game. Jordan Fortney is 0-for-3 and has yet to make one in the two games at the Civic Center Coliseum. Wesleyan shot 42.4 percent from the floor; WLU came in at 32.5.
