WLU Wins WVC Tourney

CHARLESTON -- John Wolosinczuk scored 20 points and pulled down 25 rebounds as unbeaten regular-season league champion West Liberty (29-0) routed West Virginia State, 94-78, and won its first West Virginia Conference Tournament title since 1971 on Saturday night at the Charleston Civic Center. Wolosinczuk, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the event, had nine rebounds and seven points at halftime and added 11 points, including a pair of dunks, and 16 rebounds during the second half. It was his seventh double-double in his last 10 games inside the tournament. Barry Shetzer added 19 points, Tim Hausfeld scored 18, and Corey Pelle, who won the Commissioner's Heart and Hustle Award, finished with 16 points and 11 assists for the Hilltoppers, who await the NCAA Division II selection show at 10 p.m. Sunday Hausfeld, Wolosinczuk, Shetzer, and Pelle were named to the all-tournament team.
