Bluebirds of Happiness
October 25, 2011 - Heather Ziegler
The Rev. Michael Kabel at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Barton, Ohio, was the subject of a story I did last summer in the Faith section of The Intelligencer. He is the cleric whose interests include saving/maintaining the bluebird population of the area. It seems the population has been dwindling for various reasons, but that's no longer the case in this tiny area of East Ohio. Thanks to Kabel's efforts and those of several of his parishioners, bluebird boxes have been erected around the church property, at several nearby homes and farms, even the cemetery. And the grateful bluebirds have been taking up residence in the nesting boxes. Their antics are enjoyed by all who visit the area. Hats off to all who have helped these tiny creatures. Enjoy these latest photos from Fr. Kabel!
