Just wait a minute...

September 14, 2012 - Heather Ziegler
With all the complaints about increased truck traffic due to the gas drilling in the Ohio Valley, it was just another day on GC&P Road this week. But it wasn't the drilling industry that kept traffic crawling along, at least I don't think so. Take a look at the photos attached to this blog. There you will see traffic waiting to pass a vehicle carrying an enormous basin of some sort. To me, it looked like a swimming pool insert or a hot tub for the Jolly Green Giant. I was fortunate to have a deputy sheriff cruiser behind me as we were stuck behind this thing. The item was obviously too large to navigate the road without the lead truck clearing the way. That's not easy to do as the after school crowd lets out. GC&P Road is a highway for people heading to West Liberty, Bethany, Clearview, Short Creek, the landfill, the county airport, you name it. Throw in the after school traffic and well, it's busy. Anyway, the deputy had enough, flipped on his flashing lights and went around the traffic to sort things out with the drivers of the convoy. It didn't take long, and the traffic was passing the stopped transport vehicle. Thanks, deputy!
