Christmas Has Come to Town

October 30, 2007 - Heather Ziegler
Walking down Main Street on Saturday afternoon when temperatures were in the 60s, it was neat to see the Christmas decorations going up on the light pole in Wheeling. I don't know about you, but I like the new old-fashioned looking decorations. I kind of got tired of the colorless snowflakes. I do like that Oglebay has put some of the snowflakes along W.Va. 88 for the Winter Festival of Lights. They look like they belong there hanging among the trees rather than on gray light poles. It's been a while since I have taken a ride around the area during the holidays just to see the decorations in other communities, but I think I might make a point of it this year. I love the little towns and villages that have unique decorations along their streets. Some are really old, others are very modern, but they are all special to each place. I can't believe Christmas decorations are up before Halloween or Thanksgiving, but times they are a changing.
