Excess Entertainment

November 12, 2007 - Phyllis Sigal
There was so much to do in Wheeling Friday night I couldn't do it all.

Isn't that a great problem to have?

For the ambitious person, one could have started the evening with a visit to the Oglebay Institute Mansion Museum to tour the rooms decorated for the holidays. The theme this year is "My Favorite Things."

Or, you could've started off with the Good Mansion Wines Happy Hour Tasting at 5:30 p.m. for some new California wines.

Then you would've had to choose between the Wheeling Symphony's second Masterworks concert at John Marshall High School at 8 p.m. and the gala opening of the Festival of Trees presented by Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Pine Room. (I just love that the Festival of Trees is in the Pine Room!) The festival continues through Sunday. I got a sneak peak at a Friday media luncheon. The trees are beautiful. My favorite? The Twelve Days of Christmas!

It was opening night at a new restaurant, the Roadworthy Restaurant and Tavern, located in West Liberty. And the curtain went up on a number of theater productions in Wheeling, Weirton, Steubenville, St. Clairsville, Bethany and West Liberty.

So much to do, so little time!

Well, there's always next weekend!
