Save the flowers

September 27, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
Hats off to the Wheeling Landscape Commission for those beautiful planters of flowers along National Road in Woodsdale. They are works of art. I was glad to see that most of those damaged by vandals earlier this week have been resurrected and continue their blooms. We are fortunate to have such talented folks who compliment the neighborhoods with their hotricultural talents. It would be nice to have the Market Street Plaza return to its splendor. I miss seeing the flowers and fountain there. But, of course, I still miss Stone and Thomas. Nothing in any mall has compared to the appeal and charm that Stones held for such a long time. With the economy in the shape it's in, a colleague suggested more people will be buying online rather than spend the money to drive places. Economic predictors suggest holiday shopping could be down as much as 7-10 percent from last year. What do you think? Will you spend less Will you utilize catalogs and online shopping sources?
