Speaking of speakers

December 3, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
Betsy Bethel's blog about correct usage of grammar is right on the money. but there is an even more disparaging problem with words that I would like to address. It's been going on long enough and people involved need to make some changes. I am talking about the annual Project Best breakfast in Wheeling. It's a wonderful event with the exception of one of the speakers who year after year makes a speech with disgusting, lewd and offensive comments. I do not need to name him because anyone who was there today knows who I am talking about. Maybe it started out as comedy at a breakfast meeting that was primarily men. But that's not the case in recent years and I know for a fact that many of the men in the audience were just as uncomfortable as the women because they let me know about it. There's no excuse in this day and age for such rude and offensive "jokes" to be told at a forum such as this. I don't believe that Gov. Manchin would be allowed to put up with such remarks in a government office. Wise up, folks and bring some decorum back to the organization.
