I'm confused about the city's plan on 11th Street. Didn't city fathers agree to buy those buildings to tear them down? Now they will spend $20,000 to fix electical problems in one of them? That's like buying a $500 car and putting $800 chrome wheels on it. Then there are these buildings all over the city that will be torn down with taxpayers' dollars under the guise of CDBG funding. That's nice the city is looking out for its residents' best interest in getting these eyesores down, but again, where are the owners? There is no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. It's sad and prevalent throughout this country. I know there are some people who have just left town and stuck the city with the mess. That happens but it is happening more and more. And while I am on my soap box, why aren't people cleaning their sidewalks of snow and ice. Even the places that SELL salt and snow blowers are not cleaning their sidewalks. Remember when the neighbor kids cleaned the sidewalks without even expecting to be paid? I must be getting old...
