thanks to the traffic

August 31, 2009 - Heather Ziegler
Thanks to the traffic on I-70 near The Highlands, I have rediscovered the retail section of St. Clairsville. It's not that I don't go to the Ohio Valley Mall but it was really more convenient to head to The Highlands sometimes, that is until the traffic jam started. It's been three to four weeks since I've been to The Highlands and yes I miss some of those stores. But I also have found solace at the mall and the plaza in St. C. I made a clean sweep of the mall stores, then the plaza where I got everything I needed on my shopping list AND saved the tax on food purchased at Kroger and Riesbeck's. Yes I went to both stores. There are advantages, too, to St. Clairsville in that it has a couple of dollars stores, Kmart, Lowes, etc. that aren't in the Ohio County shopping center. St. C has a Dairy Queen. The Highlands has Cold Stone Creamery and Russell Stover's ice cream. I still miss Baskin Wheeling. I truly feel sorry for the retailers caught between a recession and traffic jam. I hope all the talk about speeding up the project comes to fruition or more of my shopping dollars will head to Belmont County.
