It's not funny

October 1, 2009 - Heather Ziegler
Did you hear the one about the firefighter who said I light 'em, I fight 'em .... Well it's no laughing matter. If I lived in Moundsville today, I would be sleeping with one eye open and make sure the smoke alarms have working batteries. The number of arson fires is getting very frightening. The fire department is concerned, residents are worried. While most of the fires have been in vacant structures, the trailer fires were occupied. The fact that a former volunteer firefighter may be involved in one set of these fires is awful. It's a black eye that the respected fire industry should not even have to deal with. There are a few lose cannons out there who get a rush out of setting fires and then rushing to put them out. They are sick people. They aren't true firefighters. They are people who have an obsession. Too many brave and professional people put on those fire boots and run in where others run out. And if anyone knows anything about these fires, they should tell the authorities. We would all sleep better at night.
