Residents, Employees Look to Keep Bank

File photo by Scott McCloskey Wheeling police investigate the robbery of the Wheeling Island WesBanco branch on Jan. 19.
March 11, 2010

They also did not know when those final decisions would be forthcoming. “WesBanco is the only bank on the Island. ... Seabright, a WesBanco customer, said the bank is important to Island residents. “I hope and pray you can keep it going. ... We don’t want the bad guys to end up closing it,” he said. Bicker said WesBanco has placed a guard inside the facility to discourage robberies since the Jan. 19 crime. During the meeting, Matheny said this is “a positive step.
