bring on the revolution.this government is as screwed up as anyone has ever seen.it used to be easy to teach our kids how our government functions.now i just tell them that it doesn't.i also tell them not to go into politics.it is not a career to be proud of.the men and women running this country have done nothing in the last ten years.they are trying their best to ruin this great country.stick all of these current politicians on a barge and send them to china where they belong.we don't want them anymore.the working group.

Israel is not the American 51St State. Israel as an American ally during the Cold War was cut a lot of slack and allowed to proceed with certain projects in the Middle East of which the U.S. wanted no direct relationship; even for a Superpower like the U.S. there are things which go bump in the night in that place known as the Holy Land in Sunday Bible School Class which in reality isn't all that Holy but produces violence on an epic scale--even by American standards. Using military means to secure a long time strategy against Iran with their ambitions to be a superpower in the region; a no win for us and not any better for Israel. The casual attitude during the Cold War by the C.I.A. when they helped to overthrow an elected Iranian Government and brought back the Shah; that is going to come back and haunt us.

Tyrants tend to nominate other tyrants

As I said before, this country won't last another 4 years and Osama is simply speeding up the process

Revolution is now closer than ever

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

We're supposed to think Hagel is a good choice simply because he once served in the U.S. military? So did Tim McVeigh.

Being a veteran does not necessarily qualify one for any position in government. Hagel is a terrible choice.

when folks like duwhop make this nomination about disliking a certain segment of society and a country, doesn't that sound rather prejudice? I agree with Popeye 100%. Watch the neocons heads explode. and for what?????/

One of the very few things that Obama has done right.I guess all of you Israel lovers like giving them money, kissing their--- and in return getting spit on. I am no lover of Iran but lumping Israel and Iran together is like mixing allple & oranges.

""Chuck Hagel is out of the mainstream"....Seriously?"

By mainstream meaning ALL of the Senate, not just the R side! Hagel was one of only two Senators (Lugar) to vote against sanctions for Iran. He was also the only Senator to NOT sign a letter condemning Anti-Semitism in Russia. Issues such as these are why he has been considered "out of the mainstream" of ALL Senators.

So we will have more war, and someone here referred to Obama as a peace President? We have destabilized the MIddle East and are spending US soldier's lives like pocket change there for Obama's Islamic dreams. When he campaigned the first time, he called Afghanistan the "right war" but he has messed that up badly. We are still there and the day we leave the Taliban will have it back. He announced recently that we are committing two brigades of soldiers (about 9K) to 30 African countries. Peace liberals accepted that without a wince. As liberals move to the left they become fascists as they did in Russia, Italy, Germany, Cuba, and others. Oppressive rule and military invasions come from liberal govs gone to the extreme. I am a liberal on social issues and I still reject war, a volunteer army, and support Congress because they come from the people. We live in 2 Americas now and thats not going to last too long I suspect. Reject the Obama wars and bring the troops home.

The honorable and highly decorated Hagel has had a distinguished career but stepped in it by undercutting the successful surge strategy. And while Iran endorses his appointment, Israel is "worried".

"CBS/AP/ January 8, 2013, 5:20 AM Hagel nomination cheers Iran, worries Israel"

Both are Israel-haters. Hagel already has made it clear he will decimate our forces and support massive defense cuts (while taxpayer money goes to windmill makers, Syrian terrorists and other friends of Obama).

I can't say I'm overly pleased with these two picks from the Pres., although I would support the selection of Brennon and oppose that of Hagel if given a vote. At least Obama has altered his selecting based on race and sex as in the past.

John McCain in 2008 told Joe Lelyveld that he'd support Hagel for "any" job, up to Secretary of State. George Bush considered Hagel for VP.

But now, poor Hagel gets nominated by Obama, and the far right extremists ONLY goal, is to spend 4 more years disrespecting the President. McCain stabs his fellow Vietnam Veteran in the back.
