January 15, 2013

Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler’s patience has run out with motorists who can’t seem to ease off the gas pedal while traveling on Interstate 70 near The Highlands, many of whom he said exceed the......

Motorists speed through that area because there are never any police on that stretch of interstate. They are too busy pulling people over in front of Wheeling Hospital for going 60 in a 55. Let's be honest, who is more of a risk to public safety: the 75 motorists going 80 or the 3 Ohioans going 60 in the passing lane?

idliketoknow....in this world of uncertainty, there is one absolute consistency...no matter where you are driving in the world, there will be a vehicle with Ohio plates in the passing lane going around 47 mph.

I still maintain-- City police- on city streets. Sheriff patrols--county&country roads. State police- on intrastates. Seems like everyone wants a piece of the driver and his money. Safety-- good for talk only.

How about ticketing the idiots who are in too big of a hurry to fall in behind the slow trucks and exit from the right lane at exit ten eastbound. You know, the ones running 70MPH in the fast lane and darting across all lanes of traffic, cutting of two tractor trailers. Those are the dangerous ones.

I drive through this area every day. The speed limit could be lowered to 20MPH and the problem would still exist....drivers entering from the Highlands going Westbound do not yield to traffic. Any time a vehicle is entering a highway they must yield to traffic already on the highway and that means sometimes they may have to stop. If they was really concerned about safety in that area they would be ticketing the drivers who come off the ramp without any regard of traffic.
