Nicely written article promoting industry's usual spin: MONEY. While few will profit, many will suffer the impacts. You really have to see Marshall County from the air to get a real sense of the environmental destruction that has already taken place.. it resembles mountaintop removal. The "almost" in "Almost Heaven West Virginia" is getting farther away by the minute. Another beautiful area getting destroyed by the oil and gas industry for huge private profits. Money, money, money.

Marcellus, you have to be joking. West Virginia, the mine waste capital of the world, being "spoiled" by the tiny footprint left by drill rigs? Give it a decade, and you will be hard pressed to even find the sites. Next time you fly into Dallas, look around. There are dozens of wells on the property, and unless you know where to look, you can't tell.
Mikeyd, give it a few years. Trees don't grow overnight.
Been away for a while. Where's Wheeldog? He usually was moaning about Peak Oil on these posts.
