High speed rail linking the cities would be a good start. nobody wants to ride around in busses anymore. That was the driving force of the tourist industry in the 60's though 80's. If i could hit a major city by high speed rail i would likely visit them now and then for a weekend, concert, blues festival, any kind of festival.

another great 20th century idea from the N-R. don't let those high-speed trains come through West Virginia; some passengers might discover the state's beauty and get off. and stay. and overcrowd our schools, churches, etc.

This one about knocked me off my chair. High speed rail as "social engineering"? Tell that to the millions of people who travel throughout Europe on efficient, economical and environmentally friendly rail lines as their primary means of transportation. You Eds. of this pitiful rag should get out of Wheeling a little more and see how the real world operates. You would be surprised how much you could learn once you're out of this place.
