The priority needs to be the alleged victim. There are many reasons that people have lost confidence in justice system-not because of closed hearings. Luckily, the alleged victim has good representation. If not for one ohio county judge screening jurors, there would still be an ohio county sheriff deputy convicted of sexual assault against a teen girl still free to assault others. Is that because she did not report the assault to anyone, or because nobody cared enough or wanted to pursue charges against a deputy? I understand that she did not report because she did not have the confidence in the justice system. I am just glad to see this story has been exposed and have confidence that justice will be served, as it is clear Fitzsimmoms reason for taking the case.

The author of this editorial, and bloomin' apparently don't understand the concept of the seperation of poewr into 3 braches. Law enforcement is a part of the executive branch, not the Court system. A judge has no supervisory authority over cops, except as to how they conduct themselves in Court. Hopefully, the Judge will treat this juvenile case the way he should. Confidential! No press! The local press has demonstrated time and again that they can't be trusted, and are incompetent in reporting on legal matters.
