intresting, thank you for the question.

You asked: "Why should I have to pay into a health system...?"

Because sir, it is the law, and as a law-biding citizen you will remain a patriot and contribute from the earnings that this country and its security makes possible for you to accumulate. Remember, the money, like your real estate, is only on loan to you as long as you are alive. The gold and ground belong to the government of the United States.

As a tenant of this country you will pay rent when due.

Thank you for your contribution to the general welfare of this nation and its citizens.

Or would you prefer to adopt the motto of: 'With malice toward all with charity for none' ?

Now for some positive news from a city just up the river from Wheeling and those small communities on both sides of the Ohio River. The redevelopment of those former steel sites, this project along a section of the Allegheny River will see up to 100 million dollars put into turning what was an empty wasteland into riverside parks, recreational trails which will be combined with office parks, retail and residential housing developments. Not quite the topic of cigarette smoking and what that will mean for health coverage but you've got to wonder? Would you ever see such a news article appear in this paper about another redelopment project which will attract new residents, new employees for high paying jobs in Ohio County like those which will happen at Carnegie-Mellon and U.Pitt? Filling the spaces in those office park campuses, attracting more talented, educated workers? Not in Wheeling, not with the attitudes of city, county governments nor with the population which still remai

Botoxboy says:

If you don't want higher premiums quit smoking. Why should I pay for your cancer?

I feel the same way you ig#orant sl•t. Why should I pay for all the lazy****gimmiecrats and lowlifes that I'm required to? Why should I have to pay into a health system that covers not only smokers, but aids, STDs, etc. You mamsir, are a hypocritical coward and liberal d#uche.

Btw-a three-judge panel of the USCourt of Appeals for the DC Circuit said Obama did NOT have have the power to make three recess appointments to the NLRB--what an abject failure and the most polarized lotus in the history on this country!!!

Now there is a lovely picture. One that is truly befitting the Wheeling News-Register.

If you don't want higher premiums quit smoking. Why should I pay for your cancer?

overweight people cost the healthcare system more than smokers and cancer put togeother and there was 1 more thing in that category but cant remember it. "Iwill not raise taxes on anyone making less than 250000 dollars a year" Remember who said that then the first day in office he raised cig taxes .60 cents per pack and the money the states got from sueing the tobacco cos were supposed to go to help people quit smoking our AG put in his kitty like the oxycotin money etc etc. Its ok to charge me more for smoking but charging overweight people more is discrimination why is that? Not politically correct, its bull sh**t pretty soon we will have to smoke like pot smokers that used to have to hide now being legalized and smoke that and its fine.

Totally makes sense. I'm tired of paying for those who willingly make themselves, their children, and everyone around them sick.

BTW...that picture is very disturbing.

I wonder what the difference is for this country's health care cost burden between fat people and those with AIDS. I'm guessing that AIDS doesn't even sniff it. I'd think that most newer cases in 2013 are junkies that don't even seek treatment so we are making progress with that.

Smokers often sound just like other addicts in their justifications, or their hope to be seen as victims. Its hard to quit smoking, I know I did that after coming out of the Army. Very difficult, but there are a lot of difficult things we have to do, and suffer if we don't stop doing them. I don't blame companies, they don't force people to smoke, they may make it seem appealing but blaming tobacco companies for your smoking is lame. Its your health. Just do it, do whatever it takes to stop, but stop. But it is odd about the insurance premiums in that Obamacare is supposed to catch all who need insurance, people who don't work, smoke, do drugs and booze will be covered but those with actual paid insurance have to pay more. This "two America" thing, the one for people who work and pay and the other for those don't do either is fairly typical liberal doublethink. But its still up to you, stop blaming and whining. Quit smoking. You smell bad.

OK 88WVU, what about those with AIDS???

THEIR healthcare costs make those of an obese look like that of a 18 year old jock.

WHAT?? Not Politically Correct?

We may finally be getting on the right track. Smokers are a drain on the health care system. Why should non smokers pay higher premiums to subsidize their oxygen tanks? The next group that needs to start paying higher health care premiums are the obese. If your behavior causes higher health care costs then you should pay for it. Not your neighbor and not the taxpayers.

Will there be penalties for consumers of alcohol? Will there be drug testing and penalties for people who use illegal drugs or for those who abuse prescription drugs? Will there be penalties for people who refuse to use man made prescription drugs? What about people with mental issues who use psychotropic drugs? The problem here is that the Democrat health care law is judgemental just like Democrats! If you aren't exactly like them, then you are second rate and not worthy of existing on the same planet with them. DEMOCRATS HATE PEOPLE!
