Serious Crimes Rose In 2012

Police might be too busy to take them small crime calls like larceny, vandalism, burglary, because they get so many calls for them meth labs, murders, shootings and stuff like that. Maybe they could put some patrols on horses to do small crime calls. If the horses are too much, maybe they could get a couple ponies to go around the city and break up the gangs of kids who vandalize. Dont really need car to catch them bugers. Another idea is a couple of mopeds. They could get lots more reports done with half dozen of those. Give em all a moped and an ipod and we could get all the criminals.

Hefner-everyone of those calls was a report call in person. There were over fifty thousand calls including traffic stops, but every call got a response. Reports are not taken over phone and the tens of thousands of phone calls are not counted.

Mike, the reports are there for the paper to use, not sure why they don't. Laziness?

Crime prosecution is BIG business for the city of Wheeling and it's citizens are all potential business prospects.

...so don't break the law you say.

Statistics show that over half of arrests are found not guilty or dismissed...which is little comfort for someone who has been publicly embarassed by being arrested, sent to NRJ, lost time on the job or lost the job, had their families traumatized, and savings diminished due to police/prosecutor zeal.

Enjoy your freedom...it can be taken away any day by a simple comment to the wrong person.

Once again any place used to process a drug is a lab so a place with a scale, baggies,weed and cash qualifies as drug lab. Also a room where cocaine has whack added to it to increase the weight is a drug lab, other drug labs busted are places where pills are crushed to powder more filler is added to the mix and the pills are pressed back to pill form for sale. None of these are METH LABS. Just because a place is classified as a DRUG LAB does not make it a METH LAB.

DeWraith: I imagine some dental lose was crack-cocai*ne and Meth, But Wheeling has a long history of poverty and abuse, It was like the assault capital of the Tri-state area and some of the people responsible were related to someone in charge so you got physically assaulted women who lost their teeth for speaking, but it was ok because their abuser was related to a mover&shaker or she was deemed trash. An acquaintance was dating a violent drunk; she lost about 8 total (upper and lower) on the right side of her mouth (molars). Yeah, I hate this Sh*thole, more and more everyday.

If there is going to be a dismantling and clean up of a METH LAB in the area WHO DO YOU THINK GETS CALLED TO DO IT?? We work with DEA, WVSP, OV Drug Task Force as well as Sheriffs and City departments. I think I know just a bit more than you about OV Meth labs.

The police chief must want something to be releasing these figures. Average of 72 calls a day, but only 2 police reports in the newspaper on Saturday.
