senate could get more done if we refurnished with wood straight back chairs, eliminated bottle water and installed pay toilets.

(antiquated procedure) my my, what a novel use of the word "antiquated". To slow down giving me what I want and the H with everybody else. Can't be long until liberals claim Bowel movement procedure slows down getting business done quickly.

Democrits, don’t be too hasty about eliminating the filibuster. It’s been one of your most useful Senate rules.
Remember the Democrit filibuster that successfully blocked passage of a 1922 bill that would have made lynching of blacks a federal crime?
Remember when then-Democrit Senator Strom Thurmond set a filibuster record of 24 hours and 18 minutes to successfully block the Civil Rights Act of 1957?
Remember the 125-hour Democrit filibuster that failed to block the 1960 Civil Rights Act?
Remember when Democrit Senator Robert Byrd filibustered for 14 hours as part of a 57-day unsuccessful Democrit filibuster against the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
You Democrits may need the filibuster again someday.

Mike, the Founders had nothing to do with the Senate Rules, and you know it. The changes proposed by Reid have nothing to do with he or the President taking control of that body. The Democrats hold a majority of the seats in the Senate and some of the Rules make it difficult for the majority to rule. 51 votes should carry the day. You would be singing a different tune if your party was in the majority. "Thoughtful senators..." my eye. This editorial piece is emblematic of what is wrong at the NR. Misinformation!!

The filibuster is an antiquated procedure that effectively prevents the Senate from accomplishing anything. It needs to be eliminated, but that won't happen until there are an even number of Senators from the two parties.

The Filibuster was enacted by the Democrats (check your history on US Senator Byrd) years ago but now the Republicans are effectively utilizing it, the Democrats want to change the 60 vote rule.
