After the "alternate" scout (hereinafter, the Alt-Scouts) organizastion recruits away the members from the BSA, the Alt-Scouts always have the option of offering to allow the BSA to merge with them, using whatever identification the combined group desires.

Why is this even an issue?

Can't the "alternatie" lifestyle groups form a national scouting association with whatever charter they choose to follow?

Are they somehow less capable of sustaining such an organization?

If an "alternative" scouting organizzation is in such demand, it shouldn't be hard to find the resources to form and operate it; and members would be drawn from those that previously felt excluded as well as from current scout troups that disagred with the current scout charters.

In a perfect world, sexuallity in scouting should be a non issue whether you are gay or straight. No adult leader ever discussed his or her sexual preference with me when I was a scout. I would expect similar conduct across the board regardless of prefernce. Once a scout master starts discussing it, then you can take votes on giving them the boot. Since it's not a perfect world, this should be handled on a council by council basis. No one is going to go where they are not wanted. Problem solved.
