Don't look now, but the company, Appalachian Resins, who's supposed to build this "ethane cracker" is officially labeled as a "start-up" company. They don't have any manufacturing facilities, and we don't think any regular, by-the-hour employees; just a handful of old Getty Oil people with a "plan", of some sort. On the other hand, there are one or two chemical plants in the Valley that could use an Ethane cracker's products. Maybe they'll provide the financing.

@whgfeeling: the voices in-which you say some hear may be conscience, the thing that escapes some is the ability to reason but to reason one must have a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong, if something sounds too good to be true it generally isn't (and)
1. Someone just lied to you.
2. What are they after and how is this going to affect my family and neighbors.
3. What will this lying POS gain and once given access what are the consequences of that individual’s access on my family and neighbors.

ArmChair-Quarterback, that's funny, the team moved out, they left, live moved to Florida, Cali, Ohio, and Kentucky!! H*ll West Virginia Day is celebrated in Titusville, Florida and when you go to the Park on the 20th of June you'll see 100's of former West Virginians and they are celebrating because they DON"T LIVE HERE ANY LONGER!
The CITY AND COUNTY have their head up their a**es so far they can’t hear you and would dismiss you without delay.

WWU; All I'm saying is being an armchair QB is easy pickings. Much, much harder to do the heavy lifting. If you(sic) want them to work harder, go to meetings, arrange townhalls, circulate petitions, ask for face-to-face meetings. Not saying you aren't involved in particular, I'm speaking in a general sense. In reality this is how much of public policy is shaped.

@Mikeyd: Now that lobbyist @ MADD has a nice ChunkaChange and that Officer and Prosecutor could use some notoriety and the Sherriff's auction has a nice group of bidders for that seized new car or property that was confiscated due to being "Utilized in the Commission of a Crime" Ex- Sherriff's Tom's catchphrase, Not forgetting “Get The Bad Guy”. I’m a St. Michael’s Catholic and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference in room brightness when certain individuals come for mass, Did the Flames on the Prayer Candles catch a whiff of accelerant (horsesh*t or other fumes, sun came out from behind a cloud, or some of the passed on no-longer living showing a sign or signaling? Been there and it’s still a misery, further testing needed.

WWU,you're right.the public officials already in office should be working for the taxpayers[working group].we pay their wages, not the non-workers though they seem to benefit more.anybody on here that thinks the politicians are doing a great job hasn't been paying attention.they'll throw the commoners under the bus for a buck.

@promo61: NO, the people already in public office should be responsible and working for the best interest of the public. More interested with Fines and Fees and chasing the Federal Dollar (Grants, Loans and Guarantees); West Virginia abandoned its Public a long time ago. 1200 more people estimated and most probably under complete frustration to leave the county as last year, this year.

@Mikeyd: I don't really want your paycheck, I would imagine you work for your salary and are entitled to it and I also believe you should be able to buy a new vehicle if you want the credit-rating, need something under warranty (repair bills, etc.),have work for the vehicle purchased, Trying to enhance your already current credit rating(building credit) to purchase a house, paying of personal or parental medical bills, small business, qualify for an upcoming child’s college education loan or maybe just to say that you owned one new vehicle within your lifetime. I "Agree" on your last post.

@mikeyd: They'll start up their extortion machine..."Where's the Drugs?" as asked me for having a new vehicle when visiting a multi-colored locally owned and licensed establishment. "Only Drug-Dealers Drive New Cars" L/E 101 (no criminal charges, vehicle impounded and searched, vandalized, returned after paying tow fine and storage on release from jail stay).Missed VGF's funeral and was sentenced by arresting/falsely accusing officer to Lifetime Loss of Driver’s License. (Denied me federally ordered drawn-split sample blood-test, refused to call or allowed to call WV StatePolice utilizing my 1 Miranda Rights guaranteed phone-call) Build it in Ohio or Pennsylvania.

This area has been industry deprived for so long, this may be the first good opportunity in a very long time for the valley to put its best foot forward when it comes to business. However, we are still still a long way off from this becoming a reality and I'm certainly not holding my breath...

Local Officials...They can't even get the Benwood Bridge taken down. ...Their plan to-date...pudd and finger pulling, and the limp dick anal-retentive goofs can't get any play there either. Build that thing in Pennsylvania or Ohio, the employees can travel if they want the jobs and plant personnel and the plant itself will have some protections against the Unscrupulous Lawyers (CSX vs Pierce as a case example)Over-zealous L/E and (elected, unelected, appointed) City, County Official Clowns and fulltime looters. If it’s built, The Plant won’t last 5 years in West Virginia and its back to Square One again.

And YES, I agree ONLY 125 good permanent jobs.
Massive construction project though, could bring in 2-5000 temp construction workers.
But when the smoke blows away, none of these massive plants will employ a FRACTION of what a labor-intensive industry like a steel plant employed.
Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but only a handful will benefit :(
