Good question, Johnson. It would seem the reporter is assigning reasons based on his bias rather than clear evidence. The loss of population likely results from several causes, including a general downturn in the regional economy.

I'm a little confused by Bridgeport losing Scott Lumber due to Rt 7 by-pass and I-70. I recall visiting Scott Lumber's headquarters in Bridgeport long after the completion of both highways and visiting their retail yard in Lansing, also after completion; so am wondering just how Bridgeport lost Scott Lumber (might be because the entire chain was closed down).
