Obama Should Allow Keystone XL

February 20, 2013

Perhaps President Barack Obama should worry more about the American people than about radical environmentalists who have bullied him during his first four years, never satisfied with his own......

Your toxic battery will be a massive landfill problem in 15 years just like the idiotic Compact Fluorescent bulbs will be.

Green technology is not so GREEN when you have knowledge of the Product Life Cycle.

Which getting back to the Keystone is the big joke. There are 25,000 miles of pipeline crossing the Olagawa Acquifer NOW in year 2013 with 40+ years of history.

What is the BFD of another 100 miles??

NOTHING, of course.

Dawrath, my Prius does not plug in. The toxic battery charges from braking. I disagree with your idea of a moderate. I take the time and want to hear both sides and decide either way depending on the subject. Obviously I disagree with you a lot, but not all the time. Your belligerent writing style is annoying but I accept who you are.

A moderate is somebody who doesn't have the BAWLZ to make a decision.

Moderates, like skunks, are found in the middle of the road: dead with tire tracks running over them.

Some of the Prius and the Volt are Plug In Hybrids. You have an original?

I am 100% for clean air water and not destroying the land...but at what cost? well maybe it doesn't matter waht cost in dollars? Well the problem is dealing with the real world. If our Govt. controlled money supply keeps expanding with nothing behind it...at some point in the near future, we shall have no Federal Govt..it's being spent into bankruptcy...

gasoline consumption in the USA is at a 16 year low...Consumer prices are heading for an all time High...the Free markets are being crushed right now...Govt. regulation along with endless QE over printing of money ( devaluation) is the cause....Fed Govt and some State Govt. are joining with Big Corps. to rape the public...example Facebook 1 1/2 billion in profits...No Federal income taxes...the Republic is being killed

I'm a moderate. We differ from liberals and right-wingers because, well, you figure it out. Everyone on all sides should participate in environmental stewardship. It doesn't sound like you give a hoot. You're part of the problem. For strip mining tar sands, like mountaintop removal coal, one should consider the benefits vs. impacts from cradle to grave. What societal benefit is there after accounting for loss other ecological goods and services? Water usage and waste products like heavy metals, mutagenic carcinogens, fish deformities are a result. As long as it's not on my property? Really? Someone lives downstream and downwind. Would you permit your neighbor to say, burn a tire next door and say it's ok to let the smoke flow into you house because they have the right as long as it was on THEIR property? Oh, you would just close your window and smile.

CleanWater, are they extracting that tar sand on YOUR property? No? No. They’re extracting it on THEIR property. Which makes it THEIR business.

Why are liberals ALWAYS telling everyone else what they should be allowed to do with THEIR property?

As to your ridiculous claim “Tar sand oil is unsustainable in that it takes more energy to produce the oil than the energy returned,” let’s think about that. Big oil companies, with expertise at successfully extracting oil for decades, have invested BILLION$ in private money in the belief that they can make money from tar sands. Commenter CleanWater, who thinks Sally Kohn is an unbiased Fox News source and thinks his Prius gets 78 mpg because that’s what the gauge occasionally says, says they can’t. Who should we believe?....

It's a hybrid, not a plug-in. Every lit bit helps. Everyone should pitch in and conserve. I still stick by my main point: Tar sand oil and its extraction is dirtier, more destructive, and plain idiotic compared to conventional drilling.

Cleanwater is deceived by Prius bulls**t.

It tries to run on electric power when fully charged, so it may show 70 99, whatever. Of course, YOU CHARGED your car using electricity produced BY COAL fired power plants.

Studies show the OVERALL carbon footprint of a hybrid or pure electric car is WORSE than an internal combustion engine high mpg car.

The batteries are HUGE and very TOXIC and it takes ELECTRICITY from a plug to CHARGE THEM UP.

The Chevy Volt, which is rate higher mpg than the Prius, actually gets about 35 mpg overall in daily driving that EXCEEDS THE RANGE of the charged battery. Only get 100 mpg if you can stay on the battery for quick trips.

I only get about 20 mpg. But my vehicle only cost about $20,000. And over the 100,000 miles I plan to own it, at $4 Obamabucks per gallon, I’ll spend another $20,000 on gas. So my cost of ownership (vehicle plus gas) is about $40,000. How much in total will you pay for your Prius and gas for $100,000 miles?

By the way, my vehicle comfortably seats six and can carry a full-size refrigerator in the back. How about your Prius?

By no means did I intentionally lie. Sorry. My 15 min drive to work records 78 mpg on the data read out. Some trips it's 99 mpg ! I love it. My drive home is 48. What gas mileage do you get? typically speaking.

CleanWater, question for you. When you posted that “My Prius gets 78 mpg” lie, which of course you knew was a lie as you typed it, did it even cross your mind that it might be wrong, in some esoteric way, to lie?

Or did you say to yourself, “CleanWater, I know saying my Prius gets 78 mpg is a lie, but it’s so important to get these ignorant conservatives to adopt the green agenda that lying is ok if it can sway the opinion of even one of them”?

Or did you say to yourself, “CleanWater, since my Prius DOES get 78 mpg sometimes, like when coasting downhill, it’s not REALLY a lie to say that it gets 78 mpg. I mean, just because the reader didn’t know I meant in a downhill coast isn’t my fault.”

I'm just trying to understand the liberal mindset when it comes to lying. Because you liberals do a lot of it, and it never seems to phase you. Must be peaceful not having any moral values.

You realize there are solar cells and windmills you can buy for your home. Buy some, have them installed, disconnect that evil coal-fired power grid, and show us how it’s done.

Wonder why AEP dropped the program? Keep cipherin’ Jethro. You’ll get it eventually.

And I was right. "78 mpg"? Just more bull for the buck. Oh yeah, you're typical. LOL

Ha, I new you would ask that lol. 45 up the hill. It's all about knowing when to coast. I'd say long term average is closer to 60 for me. I don't trust manufacturer or EPA ratings. That's by averaging typical driver? I'm not typical. Yeh, I hate using dirty energy. Give the people better choices. I signed up for AEP green pricing, added 10 bucks per month based on my usage. they said they bought equivalent off the grid from most likely source--ready--- a wind farm near Chicago. Lol. But then AEP dropped the program, why?

So you’re STILL using gasoline and STILL using coal-fired electricity? Shame shame shame...

By the way, that’s quite an impressive Prius you have there, considering it’s EPA advertised highway mileage is 51 mpg. Maybe you’re using that new Obama-fuel, with more bull for the buck. Now what mileage do you get back up the hill?

I try Trollslayer, getting kids to turn off the lights, etc. is harder than you'd think. My Prius gets 78 mpg on my trips to town. I like it. It charges my cell phone so I don't need a computer to read the news...every little bit helps right?

And obviously all those “moderates” have stopped using “dirty” oil-fueled vehicles and “dirty”coal-fired electricity and are putting their money where their mouths are by using only “clean, green” energy. Because you just know they’re not hypocrites. LOL
