Why do people elevate ANY clergy to these high levels of expectations?

Cardinals, Bishops, and yes even the Pope is just a MAN!

Just as flawed as any man

They don't live a single day longer and they hold no greater favor with the almighty than the homeless man living under the bridge

For all their multi-million dollar gold adorned churches, their wealthy and well connected congregations and their lavish costumes and ranks, they are merely MEN with no greater power or favor with the maker than any commoner

THIS is what people need to keep in mind when they choose to elevate the importance and status of these very COMMON and FLAWED men the are shocked when they fall from grace

As we have witnessed throughout the world, the sex abuse cover up within the Catholic church is not nearly over, the truth is just beginning to come out. There are cardinals and bishops who are still covering up sex crimes against kids, they are still not removing predator clergy, and they are still not reporting to the police. There has been no bishop or cardinal fired or punished to deter them to stop. It is so sad that more kids may have to be sexually abused before any of these church officials are held responsible. Outside law enforcement needs to get involved and investigate their crimes against humanity.

You would hope there is someone within the college of cardinals who could be a pope with integrity, who will start to take immediate actions to stop this abuse. Yet with that in mind, since all of these cardinals were promoted by popes, we have our doubts.
