Wheeling will be closed for business until 2018 and then it will take another couple of years for people to come back to Wheeling. Put all projects on hold to save the city money.

Design is one thing but having the funds for construction is another.

Maintenance of traffic plans need to be factored in to the cost.

I-470 may come in handy as a detour route for through traffic. Maintaining access to area residents & businesses will be a big challenge.

Closing down a road completely would speed up the process but it is doubtful the state will be able to do that for several reasons.

Interstates are considered strategic highways and are critical for mobility, the economy, & national defense and are a part of the National Highway System.

Costs will likely end up higher than estimated.

Most likely, the vast majority of the bridge work will be done by contractors, not the Highway Dept.

Although many the bridges, especially some of the smaller ones, are officially deemed "safe", they are in desperate need of not just repair, but replacement. This work has been put off for far too long. In the interest of safety for the traveling public, it needs to be done.

Sound like a Pa. PENNDOT task to ensure a career job. How about not being allowed to start a new job until the first one is finished?

I AM SURE OUR HIGHWAY DEPT. WILL FIND SOME WAY TO WORK ON I470 SO THAT BOTH INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS WILL BE AFFECTED DURING I70 BRIDGE REPAIRS.
