If you read the article you will see that it is two LEGISLATORS who suggest the bullet-proof glass - LINDA PHILLIPS OF WYOMING AND MARY POLING OF BARBOUR, also the Mis-education chair.
They are totally clueless. One says we need bulletproof glass as the gunman had a lot of ammunition.

UNCOMMONSENSE
Ask yourselves why we didn't need ANY of these "security" measures when WE went to school
The answer is that we had MUCH better parents!!!
There were just as many guns in fact most schools had SHOOTING teams!!!
EVERY problem in society today is a DIRECT result of lousy parenting!!!
And ratcheting up the police state and turning schools into prisons is NOT the solution!!!

Manchin and his cronies are CLUELESS!
I don't care if you put 30ft walls with razor wire around schools and ZERO windows, if the shooter makes a bomb threat, what good is all the MILLIONS you wasted on windows??!!!!
EVERYBODY will be standing OUTSIDE!!!

A superior solution would be to construct schools without windows. And what about the dangerous level of exposure as kids walk to the bus? Maybe an underground tunnel could be utilized. I agree with the general sentiment here. It's bizarre that this whole idea could even be proposed, let alone gain any traction.

This would be funny if it didn't smack of contractors greasing the palms of politicians and policy makers.
So, let's just be nice and say it's bone dumb! All bullet proof glass would do would be to make it impossible for a SWAT team to pick off a hostage holder. Or even to shoot in a smoke or flash grenade.
This story is embarrassing and I hope the news services don't pick it up for America to once again go, 'hee haw' at WV!

Seriously!
Manchin is a poor excuse for a Democrat, Republican, Tea Party wonk or what ever the right wing-nuts want to label him.
West Virginia is last in EVERYTHING THAT MATTERS and the country is being run like West Virginia.
This bozo is out with lobbyist for the bullet proof glass merchants???
Impeach Joe Manchin out of office NOW, before it is to late.
At the very least, get Joe Manchin to do what he was SWORN TO DO.

I cannot recall a student EVER killed by a drive by shooting through a window??
Can Any of you??
Seems they stroll on to campus and start gunning away.
LA has some of the toughest schools in the nation, most high schools are a CLOSED CAMPUS (fenced) with a single Entry/Exit point WITH A METAL DETECTOR like airport security.
And ARMED plain clothes guards who mix with teachers.
But no BP glass. Get real.

on second thought this makes sense. It may save one innocent person driving by a school from being injured by a stray whatever.

window salesmen lobby must be active. fewer windows or home schooling would be safer and cost effective.
