There are many extraordinary musicians in this group. Its surprising that they are developed to that level and I wonder if the program did that or they are a product of tutors. Few schools now can muster enough kids for a marching band and I wonder why that is, maybe the 20 years of entertainment and athletes making fun of band members, or the fact that few of the band members actually are accomplished musicians at the high school level. JMHS had a massive, award winning marching band but hardly anyone now. This music program in OC seems to be fostering true musicians who can play, can read music and can perform and can use their talent for the rest of their lives. This is a first rate music program, startling in how good they are. Without much publicity someone put together a music program that rivals those in large cities. Thats a good thing.

They never wanted to get away with band. They went from a marching band to a concert band because the numbers are lower.

That's a surprise. Just a few years ago they wanted to do away with the band at WPHS. What other artistic programs were dropped that we don't know about.
