This part spells doom for the request of Trey Santorine, 'Holloway said Santorine was welcome to present more scientific information during the board's next meeting'. Unless he knows someone who is a scientist that is a pro hookah and can falsify some documents for him he wouldn't have any chance on providing evidence for some of his self facts about hookah. I mean seriously if they just stop saying that hookah is safe or anything positive and just use some other way to show up their business they and the other hookah bar/lounge owners wouldn't have any big problems. Don't get me wrong, I love hookah, I just don't smoke into this lounges since I have my own private room at home to smoke in.

Hey Trey Santorine, just open a Hookah TOBACCO SHOP. Smoking is permitted in Tobacco Shops.

I must offer kudos to Mr. Santorine. Eventhough I have never heard of a hookah bar and I'm sure I would never visit one, I think it was impressive that he voiced an opposition to the almighty Heath dept board.

Good idea but you have to find a way for it to profit the Board of Health. Put a gambling machine in there and join the Wheeling trend.

Got to love Wheeling's don't smoke in doors but put a gambling machine in every establishment and have at it view.

Hi GETACLUE, after reading the smoking health code closely I thought the same thing but after talking to several of the board members they made it clear that they had a different interpretation.

HookahMan, I would be happy to give you citations for anything that I said during my presentation. I'm currently looking for a place to publish a short, fully cited (using only scientific sources, published mostly in academic journals) expose I wrote on the ridiculous campaign of misinformation that exists about the dangers of hookah. Because I know how much of the science behind the idea that hookah smoke is harmful in any serious sense when used with a small amount of moderation is pseudoscientific, it was difficult for me to focus on the other positive aspects of small business, which was difficult to expand on because of how accurately "economic gain for the area with increased tax revenue" seems to me to describe them. Maybe I should have explained economics to the board inste

Trey526.... My suggestion was not confined to just Hookah tobacco but all tobacco and tobacco products. Much like Gumby's more of a retail tobacco outlet. I find it hard to believe that you could not have a tobacco store, and I think that smoking is permitted in tobacco stores. I would have an attourny look at the law and do not accept the Health Dept. interpretation.

Another BLOW to the City!

The Hookah Bar would have offered Wheeling the contemporary culture face that we lack. Furthermore, it would have allowed many of our great thinkers to avoid the burden of traveling to Pittsburgh. Hopefully, Mr.Santorine will go to work on filling another void that imperils the growth and prestige of our City.

This city is the laughing stalk of the world. They immediately shoot down anything they are ignorant about or does not profit govt.

Heard there is a class action suit being prepared. Research shows smokers suffer mental health issues, so the state allow the mentally ill to smoke indoors if they gamble, now the mentally ill are gambling addicts as well. West Virginia's mentally ill v. health dept. lol Im sure a health food store would be banned too. Whole foods would intimidate the city, might compete with someones relative.
