The use of social media is exposing adults to their children's behavior. Now adults are finding out just what kind of little monsters they have raised. PARENTING STARTS ON DAY ONE, not the day a child gets a cell phone.

Article should have been title:

"Educate Parents On New Media"

It's physically and mentally painful to watch a full grown adult struggle with smartphones and the "interwebs". Their children have an infinitely better grasp of how these things work.

Mike, you are apparently unaware of the role played by social media in the investigation and prosecution of crimes. It used to be that criminals went into bars and discussed their offenses within earshot of the wrong person. Today, they post a permanent confession on Facebook. Don't discourage them.

The Internet is a two-way street. The false sense of anonymity turns some who are otherwise meek and inoffensive into trolls who get off on insulting and, at times, threatening behavior. What they fail to realize is that whatever they send out over the net never disappears and can come back to haunt them long after it was entered. The Internet is not a video game, and actions taken by those who use it have potential consequences.

No wonder kids are not learning the acceptable uses of the cell phone. I saw a woman in a van on I70 texting on her steering wheel, with 3 kids sitting in the back seat. IDIOT!

My kids tell me that they watch kids in school using their phones to cheat on tests. Some of their teachers ban cell phones in the classroom, but are mostly ignored by the the kids.
