All that comment was missing was a few wake ups! And "sheeple" comments. I bet you consider yourself an activist now.

Besides the obvious, this is about county, and your rant is about seemingly city, how much law enforcement is enough for the city?

Aren't you the same person that complains about the drug dealers at the legion, yet feels that drugs should be legalized?

You may get your wish. City pd is probably going to get cut, or more grant funded jobs get added to take the burden off of the city while the fire department is still over 100, but since the mayor has a few soft spots for the fd, that won't change.

Maybe time to consider a metro department again. They can give all the department heads another raise, we join the city and county departments for more efficient government.

Most of our money goes into law enforcement, prosecutors, and jail.. $3.485 million law enforcement, plus $453,000 courthouse, $117,000 magistrate, $91,000 circuit, $1.09 million for prosecutors office (holy cow), regional jail $900,000...who knows what else for our little 15.8 square miles of land and less than 30,000 citizens.

Let's put this in perspective...mental health gets $90,000, health dept $45,000, regional development gets 4000 measly dollars, community development...$35,000 wooo hooo..should do a lot with that..

Good people of Wheeling...we certainly need our police, but the HUGE Business of law enforcement and prosecution is much bigger than our community requires...the ratio is out of proportion and WE need to do something about it. Shouldn't our city be focused on cleaning up, building up, creating jobs and opportunities for it's citizens, instead of feeding the insatiable prosecutors? Guilt or innocence means nothing...they just want you in the system. Shame.
