It's a Hazard to Navigation of a Inland Waterway. That’s why the Fed is involved, Get that damb thing tore the H*ll down and if the Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Department cook, Part-time notary, councilman Frank Longwell starts anymore sh*t, Then throw his a** in Jail.

Impact, I know what you are saying. It is a U.S. District Court, so it doesn't matter what district it is in WV or OH, it is a federal court, not a state court. So it is the U.S. placing this requirement on them, not the State of Ohio.

Yes, it is a federal district court that just happens to be in the state of ohio. Are there none in WV?
"The Bellaire Bridge has a deadline".
Doesn't everyone have a deadline?

Ohio puts demand on WV...
Notice the judge didn't specify a time limit on bridge demolition.
They could begin taking the bridge down this summer by removing only one bolt at a time.

OhValleyGuy - I made the same comments as you but added that I could not see why state of Ohio is involved as surely this bridge, though private, is like all other spans over the Ohio River...ie they are under WV jurisdiction.
My comment was pulled by, I guess, the censor.

"We just can't sit on our hands and wait for something to happen," (Police Chief Frank Longwell) added.
Funny, if the reporting in the news media has been accurate, it seems to me this bridge would've been down months ago, perhaps more than year ago, had Frank Longwell and his cronies in Benwood not created demand after demand, then required monies and deposits that would be held by the city (who in their right minds would agree to that?), and the list goes on. Perhaps this judge should've read those stories and reports (and the comments sections) before making such a decision.
From the outside, it appears the bridge's owners are being put in a bit of a no-win situation here. The State of Ohio sets deadlines and imposes fines, while the City of Benwood stands in the way and throws up roadblocks that prevent this demolition from happening sooner.
