Generally many people pause at some of the stop signs, and there are speeders everywhere. I think the speed limit is 15. Dont you think these young children are exposed to enough crap on tv, so they really need to see a pillar of the community, a society page idiot with his pants around his ankles. These are often not the residents, but those who use the neighborhood for their own gratification. Probably the same ones running stop signs and speeding. Why cant Coynes buyer, at least jobs might be created and taxes paid. They dont care about kids.

Yes, the way people drive concerns me more. Children are not going to get run over by the one time nookiefest. But idiots in jacked up trucks racing down th street is a concern and happens daily.

Yes it is very seedy. You mean you are more concerned with speeders and running stop signs that little man in big white chryster coming from forest hills to park a block from school and having woman straddling him at 3 something pm when your 6 or 7 yr old is about to come down the street. He knows not to $!#& where he eats, not doing it in forest hills where his own wife and kids will see. Give him an award and put it on the society page. He just wasnt paying cash-the rest of the johns got arrested. Archive June 2008 grant for hookers and johns. Not opposed, take em all, but dont let the society buds or officials off the hook. We are the city of grants-which will be priority of the month. Maybe a grant for stop sign runners will be next. Will read-whg gets 100K to catch stop sign runners. lol

So there are rental units in Woodsdale. Rental uits always lower the quality of the people living there. To that, we agree. But Woodsdale is still one of the best places in wheeling. Aside from some of the more expensive neighborhoods.

My biggest complaint is the speeding and running stop signs. A man having sex in a car three years ago is not the smoking gun that Woodsdale is a slum. Still waiting to hear where that hooker ring is.

The crowd at the owls nest and alpha have gotten decidedly seedier, but that is the fault of the establishments. Hiring cops keeps fights in check. They do not check id(not their job) and they do not control who is let in.

I have never received welfare and am not going to bash those who need it, but welfare in wheeling is the middle class anymore. Those on welfare are better off than the middle class working their butts off. Any possibility of growth gets shot down before even known about. Im not knocking Woodsdale either, I am just saying that the talk of "protect the neighborhood" is BS. What do the owners near the bars think about the city saving woodsdale. If I lived on Birch or area I would be ticked to hear noise all night long. How about those who have to wait in the "lights" traffic-oh yea, ogelby=city profits. Dont let any company or individual profit here, even though they might hire people at a reasonable wage. They destroyed businesses w plans of victorian outlets. What nonsense. Wheeling gives the word "selective" true meaning. Money talks and walks here. Gotta be on crack to not see what is going on. Very sad as it was once a very nice city. I guess it is a c

It's the sad truth but you have an entirely different class of people moving into Woodsdale for the last couple decades and that's where decay starts. The druggies think they're camouflaged moving into a perceived good neighborhood and the amount of slum lords is disturbing. Look at the once nice Maple Ave. The whole upper end towards Heiskell is a dump. The older upper class is dying off and the middle class is disappearing. Just the fact that residents are happy there is a bigger police presence in Woodsdale should speak volumes about its condition. Breaks my heart really.

Bloomin is actually correct about Woodsdale\Edgwood, I've been saying this for a long time. There are a few really nice streets left but you have many run down rentals and owners that just don't care. Don't believe me? just look around drive up Miller, Springhaven, South and North Park streets, Vista and up on the hillside there, look at almost every other house on Edgwood St. So many people have left the area due to horrible economy here (always has been, old residents are dying off and leaving their homes to kids who live away. Residents continue to turn a blind eye to the drugs as well, they are rampant. Drug houses up Springhaven and Vista, I have personally witnessed transactions and called police. All those useless POC tell me is to take down license plates and generally do their job for them. Well I say the*****with this area. I won't be here much longer anyway I'm jumping the sinking ship but I'm telling you Woodsdale will be Warwood soon.

Man having sex on Woodsdale street at 3 pm. Police caught-man let go. Next day, this married man from forest hills is on society page for accepting an award from the Lions Club. Haha. The city is all "all inclusive" and all "exclusive". As far as this property-Coyne needs to give the nature of business, then unless it poses a danger, it needs approved. Coyne knows that there are a bunch of morons that feel they have no control of their own lives so they have to oppose any zoning change to feel powerful. Wheeling always shooting self in foot, then wonder why nobody wants to live or start business or develop here. I dont even make purchases here. My money goes to Pa.-new car every 2 yrs,, furniture, clothing, home repair companies, I even purchase food there when Im traveling home. All I spend here is an occassional cup of coffee or gallon of milk. Have great drs and dentists and professionals though.

Actually, Woodsdale is becoming a craphole. Many homeowners work very hard to keep these old homes up, and put a lot of money into them. You go down alley behind Walnut or Edgewood, and there are dilapidated garages that should be torn town-they are hazard. Does city cite these people as they do in other neighborhoods? Homeowner near Alpha and Owls Nest must be delighted at hearing fights and groups of 20 drunks moving from bar to bar screaming and chanting. That tennis or basketball court is covered with glass on Edgington lane. Lots of vandalism and minor break ins-often autos. How many apartments in building next to school? Woman across street reports drug traffic but never hear of any arrests. Whats up with that. This has been for years-before gas, its the locals. Theres a fence there that says "survailance camera-hit my fence and you are caught" Why the need. I could name names but it would only be deleted by NR.

Obviously there are a couple of sensative people on here who have no sense of humor. FACT-Around Easter, I believe 2 years ago, NR Headline-HOOKER HUNT, either wetzel county or new martinsville. Said the ring was there to provide service for gas people. No Easter Egg Hunt, it was a Hooker Hunt Headline Story. FACT-June 2008-NR headline again, big hooker bust naming all the hookers and johns. FACT-nothing less appealing than sensative morons with no sense of humor. FACT-"I know it don't bother you" is grammer of a 3rd grader. Why dont you ask mom to help you with your posts.

Woodsdale Is not a craphole, that is ridiculous. But then, most of the statements you make are. Where is the hooker ring? Which official? Or are you just making stuff up?

I think the city should get another one of those grants for another hooker hunt and publish it all in the NR like they have in the past. Im pretty sure I saw an official with one of those in that hooker ring.

Woodsdale was nice at one time too. Pretty much crap hole now. Too much drugs, prostitution, and run down property. I heard their is a ring of hookers doing business with those gas people.

Planning to drag out natural resources found in the hill and put in low income rental property. Big trucks and housing should clear up Bethany pike congestion.

Open government is the best for everyone. Stop with the behind the door type of negotiations. Let the people have their say, let the commission vote and let council have their say. Then when election time comes remember what happens and vote for or against you representatives.

Don't let them get their foot in the door. Many areas of the city were nice neighborhoods. Now--Nothinng but shops, fast food, pizza, repair shops and everything else to take away the quiet atmosphere.
