As far as mining goes weren't they saying the same thing about 3 years ago before the all the oil/gas hype started? I'll look the articles up on here when I have time. If there was a shortage there would be thousands of people lining up to get into the field. From what I understand there is a lnog line of people with a miners card waiting for a job. Not to mention what about all the miners that have been laid off?

It seems to be true that education and education administrators have failed the student and the country in prepping people for meaningful and productive lives. Just in the last few decades schools became giant day care centers where the dialogue about education has been about teachers, how much they want to be paid and what they will and will not do. Students have been told that they have to go on to college for the four year party or they are not cool. They end up with absurd degrees pushed on them by college counselors to maintain employment in obsolete departments. How many sociology grads can their be? WVU turns out 700 times more grads each year than there are total jobs in the state. As do the other state colleges. To maintain the tweed level they puke out grads who start life $60K in debt with a worthless degree. Vocational depts in high schools are things of the past and so are workers now. US Education is befuddled and counterproductive. Lets start over.

This should be obvious. If you tell a student they HAVE to go to college or they will be useless as a human being, this will be the result. 200k in student loan debt and a bachelors degree in basket weaving to show for it. But man do you feel good about yourself now that you have a college degree! The world turns its collective nose up at skilled labor and this is the result. How do you like your infrastructure now?
