folks:WV has lost power in DC with the departure of Byrd and Mollohan on Appropriations. That's the game.Do you think McKinley can keep it open? The main user is Murray. He can donate the tower staff. All the pork in WV is drying up. The only salvation for the tower would be a military-related training project need.

Probably never should have been a manned tower in the first place.

"Planes, including airliners, can continue to fly to airports without towers. Most of the roughly 5,000 U.S. public airports don’t have towers. Instead of being guided by controllers, pilots radio each other to coordinate landings and takeoffs, according to FAA procedures."

wrath, I thought you wanted less goberment spending?

My tax/fee liability for local, state and federal goberment is likely to be 58%+ this year....Cut spending to the bone and lower my taxes/fees to 20% of my income and I will "stimulate" the economy!

It cost the taxpayers $585,000.00 for Joe Biden's hotel bill for ONE NIGHT (!!!!!!) at a Paris Hotel!!!

Maybe if Joe didn't order every hooker on the menu, Uncle Sam could keep the tower open?

Oh yes, but Obama found $200 million of our tax dollars to give the Middle Eastern country of Jordan instead of protecting the safety of American air travelers.

Maybe the people who use the airport can pay the bill for the tower.I don't use it therefore my 1/10000000th of a cent portion of tax dollars should not be spent there.

This would not happen had Mollohan been kept in. The Airport needs a purpose. A DOD project would be ideal. May be possible.

This is symbolism. If the Obama administration were the least bit honest, they'd acknowledge that a 2% reduction in the rate of growth (which is what the sequestration really was about) would not and could not require the closure of airport control towers. But I guess the safety of the American people is secondary to Obama's childish foot-stamping.
