No! Why not? Read “The Highlands Interchange: Pig, Not A TIGER” & “Stewart’s Folly: The Highlands Interchange”. Google the Highlands Gazette.

BTW, don’t know what Orphy told reporter Joselyn King. But when the county applied for a TIGER grant from the feds last year to build the second interchange the estimate was not $15 to $20 million. According to Commissioner Paul Mattox at the DOH, the estimate to build the second interchange and access roads was $45 million. Greg Stewart’s estimate was a little lower at $40 million. The grant application to the feds put the estimate at $40 million. A shout out to Mike Myer & John McCabe. You guys really should get the numbers right before committing your newspaper to this boondoggle.

yes:15 million is way too low for the project.Probably 50 million or more.It is major. The current flow of money into the area will dry up once the drilling and construction is complete in late 2014/early 2015.

How will the County pay the debt from TIF funds when all of the drilling will soon go away and The Highlands will have empty hotels and microtels?

What happened to Wild Escape?

Why was Cabela's given $100 million tax dollars?

Where are all of the good paying jobs with benefits that were promised as part of the initial taxpayer financing of the "Fort Henry Industrial Park"?

Why were the funds not used for their stated purpose?

Who benefitted? (Most likely county & state officials, their families and/or their cronies).

What is the current debt on the Highlands?

What is the current debt service?

What is the current rent total?

What is the current tax revenue?

If rents and tax revenue are going to pay debts, current taxpayers see ZERO benefit. Care to explain this?
