"A recent solicitation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) reveals that the agency is seeking a "massive" online database capable of pulling up individuals' personal information, connections and associates.

On March 28, ATF posted the notice on FedBizOpps.gov, entitled "Investigative System." The solicitation was updated on April 5 with a few minor changes.

The document says that the system will be utilized by staff "to provide rapid searches on various entities for example; names, telephone numbers, utility data and reverse phone look-ups, as a means to assist with investigations, and background research on people, assets and businesses."

The system is described as a "massive online data repository system that contains a wide variety of data sources both historically and current that can be utilized in support of investigations and backgrounds."

It cannot be Paranoia, when it is the TRUTH. dewrath's posts about all the millions of people from so many countries in the 20th century murdered by their own Govts. after having their guns taken away cannot be denied. Unless one is does not think the true history of the 20th century is actually true. Can't happen here. Well, that's what most of the murdered were thinking/saying when their own Govt. killed them. Disbelief

Gotta love a 21st century president who inspires American citizens to scramble for ammo. Barry's legacy will be fear mongering, class warfare, and race-baiting. Can't wait until his term is over and he disappears into some weird academic obscurity. We'll eventually heal the harm he's done.

From the Dept Of Justice (Google "U.S. Department of Justice Statement on the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution).

"The "Militia" as understood at the Founding was not a select group such as the National Guard of today. It consisted of all able-bodied male citizens. The Second Amendment's preface identifies as a justification for the individual right that a necessary condition for an effective citizen militia, and for the "free State" that it helps to secure, is a citizenry that is privately armed and able to use its private arms."

Triton “And on the other hand you have glassy eyed gun nuts who end up being sympathetic to criminals possessing firearms without restrictions.”

Seriously? Name one person who is “sympathetic to criminals possessing firearms without restrictions.” Perhaps you’re exaggerating.

Triton “When you look around at a gun show ... you see whacked out people buying weapons that they dream of using against people”

Again, seriously? You must go to different gun shows than I. Again, I suspect you’re exaggerating. The trouble with that form of entertainment is the loony leftist will quote your statements as “An unnamed gun enthusiast said, ‘I’m sympathetic to criminals possessing firearms without restrictions,” and the rest of the leftists will parrot that BS like the drones they are. wonderwhy is already speed-dialing Huff Po.

The problem of impending gun control is that the noise comes from two extremes. On one hand we have liberals who believe that crime is caused by guns and that taking guns from people who do not commit crimes will stop crime. Now thats silly but its really a big part of the argument for denying guns or making them impossible for people to own. That Obama is doing this back door instead up front indicates that its wrong. And on the other hand you have glassy eyed gun nuts who end up being sympathetic to criminals possessing firearms without restrictions. Full automatic weapons and assault rifles are hard to justify and the right does not articulate that very well. I hunt and have a handgun and sometimes go to gun shows to look for deals. When you look around at a gun show you see law abiding gun owners and you see whacked out people buying weapons that they dream of using against people, the mythical black helicopters, their wives or the police. Thats a problem too.

whgfleeing, that is the dumbest argument from a blogger with the IQ of a bag of rusty hammers.

Almost as dumb as comparing the PRIVILEGE of driving a car to the RIGHT of owning a firearm.

The First Amendment didn't figure on the INTERNET EITHER, yet here you are making a fool of yourself exercising your first Amendment rights to be stupid.

oldazzwhipe, you ignorant hillbilly, it is 2013.

In 2008 the Supreme Court RULED on this "well regulated militia BULLSPIT" in Heller versus Distric of Columbia:

"Holding and Rule (Scalia:

The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

It is SETTLED LAW, DONE DEAL, OVER, FINIS, the END, etc. etc.
