Instead of building new prisons, how about taking that money and build some drug rehab facilities and some mental health in-house units. It is next to impossible to find a rehab with available beds and the funds to accept noninsured addicts. Get to the root of the problem which is causing our prisons to be overcrowded. Drug related crimes and untreated mentally ill people are the leading causes for overcrowding prisons. It’s not rocket science. WV could take the lead in maximizing the focus on drug rehab and also building stronger drug task forces to eliminate the BIG drug dealers instead of putting the small time drug addicts away for life in a prison for drugs related crimes. That within itself is a crime.
