Lack of teaching of civics in school are producing incompetent and corrupt legislation at all levels of government Too many politicians have never read the WV Constitution or the US Constitution to understand the meaning of representative government by the people.

There are too many incompetence mayor and council through out the Ohio Valley to be able to handle Home Rule. Failure to perform their job in according to ethics and state law is a full time job for part time people with no training.

From article: “Senate President Jeff Kessler, D-Marshall, pulled the House bill (HB-2760) from consideration in his chamber after Senate members began receiving phone threats from people who want the anti-gun laws repealed.”

Lame excuse ! It’s hard to believe. If true, our Senators must be a bunch of cowards.

HB-2760 passed the House of Delegates by a wide margin of 94 to 4 !!

Senator Kessler, is using fictitious phone calls as an excuse to hide his anti-gun philosophies.

HB-2760 DESERVES a vote in the Senate. By not allowing a vote, Kessler is usurping his power as president of the Senate against the citizens of West Virginia who voted for him. This is disgraceful.

The strict gun laws currently in place in Martinsburg and Charleston must be repealed by passing HB-2760. Otherwise law abiding gun owners in West Virginia (and other states) could find themselves in jail in Charleston or Martinsburg for doing something that is perfectly legal everywhere else in WV.

Gas drilling and other natural resource extraction is off limits for the home rule experiment? Look at New York and how they are serving their citizens with "home rule". Many towns there have banned fracking in their neighborhoods. Our local and State leadership is failing massively and they all should be ashamed of themselves. They have no vision and they are useless to citizens of WV.

Can home rule be any worse than the incompetent and corrupt legislation that spews out of Charleston? Probably not, but the incompetence and the totally unqualified Mayor and Council that represents the citizens of Wheeling should give pause to any expansion of the plan for Wheeling, but it won't.
