County elected peeps are paid based on population and assessment values. Why are they/you advocating that the "County" magistrates should be any different?

Whether it's $57K or $51K as a salary for a person who's qualified for the job if he/she can tie his/her shoes and wave bye-bye ain't too bad.

Each job, regardless of what it is, has a monetary value based on time, effort, education,employee performance, etc., etc., etc., and a cookie cutter approach to determine the worth of the position is asinine. A range of pay should be determined and based on the above criteria so assigned. Your logic reveals a socialist / communist government mentality.
