April 25, 2013

Benwood officials have tried hard to work with Lee Chaklos, who, with his wife, owns the wreckage that once was the Bellaire Bridge....

What was Horsemeat doing for the 20 years before this?

Is there any other government entity that requires a contractor to sign over $500,000 in cash, upfront, in the name of the entity and/or their crony lawyer?

Why is Buttwood all of a sudden worried about this bridge?

If Chaklos is smart, he would donate the bridge to Horsemeat and or Buttwood and take a tax writeoff that he can carry forward.

When Buttwood wants the bridge down, they can send Horsemeat and his new cruiser out onto the span. This should solve two problems at the same time.

Wow, first NR/Intel proves itself over and over to have a right leaning agenda, then it becomes a mouthpiece for Wheeling Island Casino and Bob Murray to have their press releases published as "news stories" with little to no research or balanced reporting done by this paper, and now this editorial.

Seriously, is NR/Intel staff trying to lose the tiny bit of journalistic integrity they still possessed? At times, I learn more from reading some of the posts in the comments section than I do from the actual "news" this rag publishes...

Just so everyone has the facts..... Meeting on Tuesday was not what the paper is pertraying. Delta stood before council asking to begin working on Ohio side by putting up $250,000 in escrow (Cash Bond) and remainder after preliminary work was complete ( toll shacks, asphalt , ect...) That is what council turned down....Also the Bond they want is 1 million or $500,000.00 cash bond(escrow). All in which can only have just the city on it or the city and their attorney Dan Guida. So for a city complaining about a bridge needing to come down someone needs to get it through to city council that the city patrons are suffering not the council. The citizens need to make a stand and help to push council to getting this bridge down.

The city has this right, Mr Chaklos does not have the means to post a 500k performance bond. Hi work history is pathetic!!!! just look what he did to us here in Virginia Beach area...do some fact finding before you criticize the city officials..they are 100% right
